Stopicon.png This page is in progress. The goal is to give a quite simple overview of every type of jobs for humans on the ship. This page is designed to answer questions "What I should do?", "What skills my team expect me to take?", "How difficult is to learn my job properly?", "How much time and communication does it take?". The rating in each category is completely subjective so far, feel free to edit and/or discuss things in the talk page. )

On this page you can find a short overview of most duties on the ship. You can see what characters are expected to do different roles, what skills they need for those duries, so you can choose a role for yourself. Pay attention about job difficulty, how much communication with team it requires and how active you should be to make everything properly.

Icon Note: This page mostly focus on situation, when everyting on the ship is going fine. If there are emergencies, if your team askes your help with something more urgent then your main job, the level of communication and activity, as well as stuff you are expected to do can become totally different.

Specialist duties

Here are jobs on the ship, that require special skill/skills (or title) to do the job with good efficiently (or even to be allowed to work). If you take a character with skill for one of these jobs, you will be expected to focus on it.

Piloting

Main skill - Icon Pilot

Secondary skills - Icon Shooter Icon Devotion Icon Creative Icon Expert

Pilots do three duties on the ship - they use patrol ships to kill enemy ships, they use Pasiphae to collect loot from defeated ships and they use Icarus to take expedition team to planet surface. People who does not have the Pilot skill have very big penalties while piloting (and by default settings are even forbidden to do it), and turrets are not efficient in defeating enemies. That's why pilots are essential for Daedalus safety.

Difficulty of the job - Easy

There are few things you need to know to do this job. Reading the main article will be enough.

Communication with team requested - Low

In most of the situations you should kill hunters when you see them. Collect loot if all hunters are killed and you have action points. Only communication you need is telling your fellow pilots if scrap needs collecting, or if all the scrap is collected to save them time and Action Points by taking off.

Activity requested - Medium

Hunters can come on every cycle change, and sometimes it's very important to kill them on that cycle, or on the next cycle. On the other hand, after you have used all your action points you can be offline for 3-5 cycles - you will not be able to kill as many hunters if you don't have a lot of action points, so 8 - 12 is recommended.

Crew members, who are expected to be pilots

Icon Jiang Hua - has Icon Pilot at level 1 but due to her skill set she is expected to be an expedition pilot.

Icon Roland Zuccali - has Icon Pilot skill at level 2 and Icon Shooter skill at level 2 making it easier for him to shoot down more hunters.

Crew members, who can also be pilots

Icon Kim Jin Su - has Icon Pilot skill at level 2, but his Icon Leader skill is also important and he often has to use action points on moving the ship or giving speeches to the ship if Janice is either inactive or dead.

Icon Terrence Archer - has Icon Pilot skill at level 3, but his Icon Technician skill is also important and he often has to use action points or Repair Point Technician points on repairing valuable equipment or for emergency repairs

Icon Andie Graham - has Icon Pilot at level 1, but his/her Icon Polyvalent skill means that he/she will have to be the head researcher of the Daedalus

Icon Frieda Bergmann - has Icon Pilot skill at level 2, but her job as a Icon Astrophysicist which is her level 1 skill means that she will most likely be the main planet scanner - She is often used as a backup pilot for when no other pilots can take out the hunters when the ship is in a critical state

Research

Main skills - Icon Biologist Icon Medic Icon Polyvalent

Secondary skills - Icon IT Expert Icon Devotion

Researches are working in the laboratory. Things they develop give different advantages - most of them are focused on fighting mush threat, but there are few exceptions. People with these skills make more progress per action point spent, but everyone can work in lab. On most of the ships there is one or two specialists with these skills, but other people help them. See generalist section about research.

Difficulty of the job - Medium

You should know what you need to research. Of course there are few things any human wants as soon as possible, but it can be very different, depending on current situation.

Communication with team requested - Medium

Working alone on research will be very inefficient, you will need at least one person to work with you. See Relaying for more details.

Activity requested - Low or Medium

If you have another crew member, who can work in the same time as you, you together can spend all action points there and then rest for half a day. If you you don't you will need to check game more often, waiting while your research will be reset and then continue.

Crew members, who are expected to be researchers

Icon Andie Graham - has Polyvalent skill on level 3. A lot of players will like to have a researcher-Andie, not a pilot, so it's not recommended to take him/her, if you don't have level 3 yet.

Icon Finola Keegan - has Biologist skill on level 1 and Medic skill on level 2. If she can take both skills, she gets double bonus

Icon Zhong Chun - while she does not have any skills, but she is often requested to stay in the lab, to unlock some research options. As she is already here, she is also expected to be an assistant

Icon Ian Soulton - has Biologist skill on level 2. His garden will not take an excessive number of points to tend too until nearly seven days have passed if properly maintained, and any left over points should be spent relaying Finola, Andie, or Chun.

Crew members, who can also be researchers

Icon Janice Kent - While not a primary researcher, her very flexible IT points are well-spent helping out early and difficult research topics. Use of her points doesn't cut into her low action point budget and she occasionally needs to visit the lab for morale-giving bananas anyway.

Icon Eleesha Williams - Most of her duties involve keeping track of suspicious activity, however if lab work needs assistance then Eleesha should be present. Higher level Eleesha players will have IT expert, and her flexible IT points can easily be spent in the lab while she passes through.

Icon Raluca Tomescu - Special mention goes to Raluca. Genius, her level 4 skill, allows her to instantly finish any project or research she has participated in. It is not uncommon for this skill to be spent to instantly complete the Retro-Fungal Serum.

Astrophysics

Main skills - Icon Astrophysicist

Secondary skills - Icon IT Expert

Your job is to find good planets to go to expeditions. First you should find a planet, then - analize it. Tell our team what you found, and decide if it worth visiting. If you want to go there - then wait while team move the ship to your planet, finish the expedition and leave orbit, then - start looking for a new planet. If you don't want to go there - just starting look for another planet immediately. Visiting planets is important to get different resources - O2, fuel, food, alien artifacts. Terminal to do planet scans is located on the bridge.

Difficulty of the job - Medium

You should know what zones are good, what zones are bad. Which dangerous planet worth visiting, and which does not. Which resourses are most requests at the moment and in what zones you can find them.

Communication with team requested - Medium

After you have found a planet, tell others about it - what zones does it have, how much fuel is needed and what is direction. Discuss if you should go there with them.

Icon Note: If your team decided, that more then one player should work on planet scans, then much greater level of communication is needed. You will work on different planets, not double the speed of analyzing one planet. If you don't communicate well enough you can trash efforts of each other.

Activity requested - Low

Planet scans need a lot of action points and any progress is lost if ship moves. That's why the most efficient way is to rest, wait full action points bar, then spend them for scans and go to rest again - you can log in once/twice a day for that.

Crew members, who are expected to be astrophysicists

Icon Frieda Bergmann - has Astrophysicist skill on level 1, adding IT Expert from level 4 increases her planet analizing speed

Crew members, who can also be astrophysicists

Icon Lai Kuan Ti - has Astrophysicist skill on level 4

Icon Gioele Rinaldo - has Astrophysicist skill on level 4
