Derek Hogan is a new character. He and Icon Andie Graham occasionally replace Icon Wang Chao and Icon Finola Keegan, respectively, turning the ship into an alternate timeline version where Finola was not captured and Chao didn't make it through the mission.

Derek Hogan is in charge of Daedalus security. Strong and self-confident, he will be a definite asset for the success of this extreme mission. His past is a succession of events each more unbelievable than the next. Derek has seen it all, battlefields on Sol, Tau-Ceti suicide missions... Yet he is still looking for his soulmate. Since leaving home in a hurry, Derek has devoted his existence to all females, who are not as keen towards him as he is towards them.

Derek has a special Trait: First Time. The first time he does the thing, his Morale gauge is re-filled to the maximum (14 Morale for a Bronze player, 16 Morale for a Icon Gold Mode player).

Skills

Derek's skill set consists of:

  1. Icon Shooter
  2. Icon Wrestler
  3. Icon Firefighter
  4. Icon Motivator
    • For 1 Action Point, gives a boring speech that grants 3 Movement Point to everyone in the room (Can only be done once a day)
  5. Icon Hygienist

Notes

  • Judging by his skills, Derek seems less focused on detective work than Icon Chao, instead leaning towards the executive function of the Icon Mush hunt, as well as countering more agressive Mush tactics with his resistances and fire fighting abilities.
  • As with Icon Andie Graham, Derek's character artwork has been done by a different artist. Mathieu "Ani" Leyssenne, the original Mush artist, no longer works with Motion Twin.
  • While his personal objective compels Derek to chase after as many women as possible (in accordance with his bio), the current mechanic of his trait actually rewards players who wait until the morale meter is low.

Biography

The character's current biography (translation courtesy of Twinoid forum user Vector, corrected by Avistew):

3109
Born on Earth.
3121
Derek cuts himself trying to shave his peach fuzz for the first time, which causes a scar. He swears to anyone who will listen that he got this injury from the battlefields of Tau-Ceti.
3139
Derek is enlisted into the SDF (Sol Defense Federation) after receiving a propaganda leaflet. His mother forbids him to leave home, but Derek decides to cut ties and now flies alone.
3145
Derek slowly climbs the ranks, used during his childhood to being a willing and obeying servant, it does not take long for him to get noticed by his superiors. He is sent Sol where he takes part in the great battle. Sent as a scout in the field, he surprises his superiors by taking over an advanced enemy base by himself. By his own admission, he didn't see the enemy communication tower until he accidentally crashed into it and disabled the base...he is rewarded for his bravery on the battlefield and promoted to Sergeant.
3146
After a few missions Derek is posted on Xyloph-17 to oversee the Magellan expedition and report the every action of scientists working in the orbit of Jupiter. He meets Chao Wang, but they spend little time together, as he prefers the company of Xyloph-17's female passengers. Poor Derek, his terrible quality reports and his increasingly problematic contact with the female staff of the station earn him a transfer back to the field.
3151
Derek runs small missions and manages to complete each one. Colleagues often complain of his lamentable decisions, but admit that the man is lucky. He manages with a small squad to rescue Chao Wang, who was previously sent to Encelade. In the upper echelons of the SDF, some see him as a rising star, others fear his risky methods. Alas, the latter are more numerous and better ranked, so he finds himself Sergeant Instructors in one of the many schools affiliated with the SDF.
3151
Faced with the catastrophic results of the students placed under the responsibility of Sergeant Instructor Hogan, he he is once again sent back in the field.
3153
Commander Jin-Su takes Derek under his wing, and before long entrusts him with an "informal extraction mission" with Chao. He is unfortunately unable to defuse the home security system of scientist Finola Keagan. The latter had placed an extreme item in her safe, which causes the Sergeant to lose consciousness. His partner in this mission, Chao Wang, dies, chased by a pack of quadrupedal guards. The latter had sore buttocks before dying from his injuries.
3154
Derek manages to board the Daedalus along with 15 other crew members.
