The Daedalus has three key resources that must be maintained at appropriate levels for the mission to succeed:
Oxygen,
Fuel and
Armor.
Oxygen
The most difficult resource to maintain an appropriate level of is
Oxygen. It is an important resources because we will die if the ship is running out of
. Oxygen tanks can store up to 32 units.
Losing by
- 1
is consumed at the end of each cycle, regardless of the number of the crew alive
- Leakage: 1
is lost at the end of each cycle if you have either oxygen tank broken; 2 if both are broken.
Note: Oxygen loss is not affected by fires.
Gaining by
- Plants: Each healthy adult plant produces 1
each day (at the start of cycle 1). Plants cannot fully replenish spent oxygen in the beginning, limited by starting 5 Hydropots, but in the long run, given needed care and necessary NERON Projects (Extra Hydropots for 3 more Hydropots) can normally cover the ship's oxygen needs and then some (2 more Hydropots with
Ian's
Green Thumb skill).
- Exploration: A faster, but also more dangerous way to obtain
are
planetary explorations. If the analysis of a planet indicates the presence of oxygen, the expedition can gain from 0 to 24
units depending on chance.
Consequences
When the oxygen level reaches
0, a random crew member will die every cycle. If a character is holding an oxygen capsule he will be saved from asphyxiation but the capsule will be used up.
- Even characters in Scouts/on Expeditions can be chosen randomly to die
- If this occurs on a day change when plants produce oxygen, a player will still die as the new oxygen is not counted until afterward
TODO: Chance that characters don't die?
Tips & Notes
Some people keep track of
consumption by posting the remaining amount of
on the ship each cycle. Since the Neron does not report which equipment is broken, you can find out in case of
tank leakage (breakage). Normally it should be -1 per cycle. Anything more than that means leakage.
Fuel
TODO: Explain the process of adding fuel to move ship. Add screenshots.
Fuel is necessary to move the Daedalus. The maximum fuel level is 32 units, which should be sufficient for an average game.
Losing by
Note: A broken fuel tank does not leak fuel. It only becomes inaccessible for manual fuel operation (extracting and inserting).
Gaining by
- Exploration: You may obtain
via planetary explorations. Certain planet zones (Hydrocarbon, Mountain, Caverns and Shipwreck) are the main source of
in the game
- Space Capsules: Occasional fuel that can be found in Space Capsules.
Consequences
You will be unable to move the Daedalus if you don't have any
.
Tips & Notes
Armor
The
Armor of the ship represents the consistency of its construction. At the beginning of the game, the Daedalus has the maximum amount, 100
.
Losing by
- Hunters: Armor is damaged by
hunter attack. They will not attack at the first cycle they arrived. Then the attack pattern depends on the type of hunters. For the standard hunters, they will attack at the end of each cycle, starting from the second cycle. The damage varies depending on the types of hunters.
- Piloting Accidents: If you are not a
Pilot, you will damage yourself, your patrol ship, and the hull of the Daedalus when taking off and landing. The damage is taken directly from the
, regardless of the presence of Plasma Shield.
- Fire Accidents: A fire may randomly occur at the start of each cycle, with the chance increasing as the day progresses. It has a chance of doing 2-3 points of damage to the
each cycle (including the first cycle where the fire starts), together with other possible negative effects. See dangers for more details.
Gaining by
Anyone can attempt repairs with Scrap Metal anywhere on the ship, restoring 5
and consuming one Scrap Metal if successful.
The base chance of repair success is 25%. It is not influenced by the
Technician skill, but it is raised to 37% with the Wrench item. The Oscilloscope raises the
restored by a repairing action to 10, and wielding both the Wrench and the Oscilloscope raises the success rate to 75%.
Consequences
If
drops to 0, the ship breaks apart and the entire crew is killed, instantly ending the game.
