07.01.14 at 9:26 countcount wrote that the trap is not triggered if someone has dropped an item.

I am almost sure that i got a spore just because i dropped something into the shelve unit (i didn't pick something up and there was nothing to access)

I can confirm that this is not the case. If you click on an item and use the Drop action, you don't interact with any objects in the room, only with your own inventory. When playing as a Mush, I checked the logs of rooms where Trapper spores were left untouched for quite a while, and I saw several characters drop off items there without actually clicking the shelf, which is why the spore was not used up.
