TOC right
The crew of the Daedalus, being (mostly) human, is susceptible to a myriad of Illnesses, a type of negative status which closely interfaces with the game's Health system. Illnesses are divided into three types; physiological Diseases, psychological Disorders and physical Injuries. The Mush are immune to all but injuries (with the exception of sepsis Confirmation needed.).

The distinction between the three types of Illness is as follows;

* Diseases are caused by germs, viruses, parasites and the like, generally resulting from unsanitary conditions. Visiting Swamp, Forest or Insect zones during an expedition, eating hazardous foodstuffs like Alien Steaks and alien fruit, doing the thing with a diseased partner, and the misfortune of randomly getting sick are ways to attain a disease. There is also a small chance that a disease spreads by air if infected person walks into a room with other people. Diseases typically come with an array of symptoms such as Vomiting and affect long and long. Diseases can be cured using the Medikit, certain medicines the effects of which are randomised in each game or, rarely, by the passing of time.

* Disorders are largely caused by the stresses of the mission, i.e. Panic Attacks or seeing people die in front of you, and mainly affect your max long or forbid you from doing certain actions, while situationally featuring various disturbing symptoms. These are cured by lying down in a room containing a Shrink for several cycles, or by specific randomized medicines and alien fruit.

* Injuries are caused almost entirely by either being successfully attacked or failing an attack,and hurting yourself in the process. They're also the only Illnesses that effect Mush, as they still inhabit fragile, human bodies. Injuries are largely statuses which affect long and long, but also give other nasty effects which severely limit what a character can do. While not always noted in the in-game description, injuries also reduce the character's Max. HP, an effect which increases in severity the larger the number of injuries gets. Injuries are remedied via Surgery, which is performed with the Surgical Pod in Medlab, or via DIY Surgery (the latter being more AP intensive). Outside of the Medlab, a Medic can perform surgery anywhere if they hold the Medikit.

Diseases
These are physical illnesses, often affecting HP and AP.

Diseases can be cured using the Medikit, certain medicines the effects of which are randomised in each game, or rarely by the passing of time.
AP loss from Consume actions occurs before you gain AP from a consumable.
Paola Rinaldo is the daughter of the ship owner Gioele. She lives in the constant hope of leading an adventure which will shake up her life. To denounce the Federation's post-colonial system, she starts a pirate radio station on campus with her boyfriend Kivanç Terzi. During one of their shows, she accidentally intercepts disturbing communications informing her of an impending Mush invasion. Fleeing for her life, she meets up with her father who permits her to board the Daedalus, abandoning the man of her life on Earth.

How to play
Paola's main task is to work on Communications. This takes a lot of AP and can only be performed by her alone (once the connection is up), which means that the crew will expect her to focus almost exclusively on it. In turn, they will usually work to help her gain AP by building the Swedish Sofa on the Bridge for her to sleep on, and she is encouraged to eat as many Rations as she needs, ideally sharing the Stainproof Apron with the Laboratory crew to avoid getting dirty.

With some support on the connection, a good Paola can then do 2-3 NERON upgrades, get the day 3 base and go through all of Xyloph before the day 5 base comes up.

However, she is not detached from what is going on, as her General Announcement ability leaves her with a responsibility to inform and organize the crew - if not by herself, then at least helping out the acting Commander by relaying their messages over the ship's speakers.

Bronze
:Radio Expert: Paola's first skill. This ability saves the crew a few AP when (re-)establishing the signal, and lets you do this yourself more easily, but that is basically it. Logistics Expert offers a better bonus in terms of AP.
:Logistics Expert: Paola's most valuable skill. And people will love to hang around with you! It is most often used to give Frieda additional AP for her Astrophysics job.
:Shooter: Allows you to help shooting Hunters by using your free Shooter Points in the Front Turrets, or fight a Pacifist Mush. But Logistics Expert is a better choice, allowing others to shoot even more (though using turrets is generally wasteful anyway).
:Biologist: Better than Shooter, and potentially vital, but still worse than Logistics Expert. With this skill you can help out the research team once all Comms tasks are finished or if there is a break between Rebel Bases.
:Rebel: Paola's unique skill. Its (mediocre) value comes from saving AP on decoding Rebel Bases, similar to the Kivanç bonus. Should only be taken if you plan to decode many of those. Logistics Expert is still more useful in general.
:Gunner: Paolas latest skill. A good alternative to Biologist when it comes to finding an occupation after Comms are done, especially on very long ships.

Silver
:Logistics Expert / Radio Expert: Cheap to acquire and generally useful, this will help others help you.
:Logistics Expert / Shooter: Allows you to power the bridge and also shoot some Hunters or Pacifist protected players using .
:Logistics Expert / Gunner: More specialized than Shooter, but also more effecive at what it does.
:Logistics Expert / Biologist: This will enable you to become valuable part of the research team later in the game.
:Logistics Expert / Rebel: A good combination if you don't want to miss any Rebel Bases.

Gold
:Logistics Expert should always be picked if available. Other skills depend on the situation and your preferences, with Shooter and Gunner making an effective combination.

Mush
:With no excuse to get dirty except eating without the Stainproof Apron (which is not hard for her to get) and a narrowly defined task that is also easy to check, a Mush Paola usually has little choice but to mimic a human for the longest time.
:She has good reason to wait for her moment, however: If the crew is not aware and cautious, trading an inactive (or even active!) character for PILGRED and then doing a Transfer into the acting Commander can instantly end the game in a win with little effort, making a Mush Paola a more dangerous "rusher" than Raluca!

Useful tips
* If you don't have a Swedish Sofa, there is a good solution: You can sleep in the Medlab bed while Finola/Andie can stand next to you and benefit from Logistics Expert instead. If there are inactives on the bridge, then let Frieda take the sofa and do the same!

* Since Paola is the default Comms Officer, she does not need her iTrackie/Walkie Talkie to talk and can drop it to free up an inventory slot.

* In the later game when all Comms work is done, you should pick between Shooter, Gunner or Biologist, depending on the state of research and whether you have a Pilot Magebook.

* Picking Biologist in the early game is a mistake. You do not have a lot of AP - and you should use them to update Neron, decode signals and access Xyloph. In the late game, it might be pointless as well, if you have a working team of researchers and the Mush are dead.

Biography
; 3131 : Born on Earth, in Italy.
; 3146 : First expedition off-Earth: At the age of 15, Paola ran away with a troop of space mercenaries. She meets an alter-universalist commune of neo-hippies on Mars IV which heightens her sensitivity to the plight of the miners on Tau-Ceti. Her father finally takes Paula back to Earth at the end of the year.
; 3148 : Paola is sent to Rome to the University of San Lorenzo to study structural biology. Despite her poor attendance, she got good results. At this time, Paola set up her first pirate radio station where she denounced the expansionist policies of the federation. The war on Sol and the ever-reducing education budgets were two of her favourite topics. She definitively cut all ties with her father who as a director of a company using prisoners to mine mineral deposits is directly involved in the shifting colonialist policies of the PresidentGL Maubrick.
; 3149 : Paola meets Kivanç Terzi, a Turkish student who helps her set up her antennae. After losing two transmitters which were wrecked by local police, they pooled their collective knowledge to come up with a revolutionary olfactory method of communication. By projecting synthetic pheromones over short distances, they managed to transmit information without transmitting detectable waves. They could then start broadcasting again and the campus police couldn't do a thing.
; 3150 : Following the uprising on Ross248, the government ignore the protests and make Mush the scapegoat for any and all injustices. Paola is outraged by this false incrimination and resolves to prove that the people of Tau-Ceti and Ross248 had nothing to do with the bloodthirsty man-shrooms described in the federal announcements. That same year, Kivanç detected unusual interference on the olfactory broadcast channel, but didn't pay it any attention.
; 3151 : When the interference increased, Kivanç and Paola identified exchanges in an unknown language. Kinvanç started trying to decrypt the language and managed to decipher the most commonly recurring messages. They talk about the "purification of the Sol system", "the transfer of violent subjects", and even "the spore bank". He is finally arrested the following month during an anti-spongic check by the FDS.
; 3152 : Gioele contacts his daughter to warn her of imminent danger. The Mush invasion described by the government 3 years ago is real. The entire Sol system is under threat. He offers her a place aboard his Ark-World project ship, the Daedalus, which must save the human race from certain demise. Paola accepts but she wants to save Kivanç first. he is being held in a detention centre in France. She asks her father to transfer him to Titan and into one of his mining colonies.
; 3154 : 48h before the operation to help Kivanç escape, a tragic accident obliges the crew of the Daedalus to move their departure forward. Paola must decide to leave Sol without Kivanç but she vows to get back in touch with him no matter the distance between them.

In the depths of space, sustaining your crew can be difficult work. Gardening helps by providing a source of oxygen as well as delicious fruit.

While the novice gardener starts out with a set of Banana Trees, proficient exploration of alien planets may eventually bloom the garden into a paradise of alien fruits and trees.

While starting out small, the best possible garden can yield up to 12-24 fruit and 12 O2 every day.

Location
Each ship starts with 2 mature Banana Trees and 1 empty HydroPot in the Hydroponic Garden, as well as 2 empty Hydropots scattered throughout the ship's Storage rooms. Plants and pots should be moved to the Laboratory so that gardeners can share the Stainproof Apron with the lab crew to avoid getting Dirty. Plants should only be moved back to the garden if the ship has completed a NERON project which makes the garden advantageous.

Completing the Extra Hydropots project will add 3 additional Hydropots to the garden's shelf. Also, crewmembers with a Green Thumb will each receive 2 more pots, for a maximum of 12 when Stephen copies this skill form Ian.

Plant Statuses
* Young: This plant does not produce fruit or O2 until it matures. It will mature in anywhere from 1-48 cycles depending on the plant type.
* Thirsty: This plant will only produce O2. If not watered, it will be dried out the next day. (No effect on young plants.)
* Dried Out: This plant will not produce fruit or O2. If not watered, it will be dead the next day.
* Diseased: This plant will not produce fruit or O2. (No effect on young plants.)

A plant's thirst status changes on day change between Cycles 8 and 1: A watered plant with no statuses will change to Thirsty, a Thirsty plant will change to Dried Out, and a Dried Out plant will die. A plant may become diseased randomly at any cycle change. Each mature plant will produce a fruit and O2 at the beginning of Cycle 1 provided that it is not Diseased, Thirsty or Dried Out. However, they do so after possible asphyxiation events (O2 may go from 1 to whatever plants produce, but still people can die because it technically hit 0 first).

The charges shown on a Young plant indicate how many cycles it has gone through in that state. Without the Botanist skill, the charges can be used to estimate when a given plant will mature. Botanists, however, can read plant properties which tell exactly when a young plant will mature.
A plant maturing on Cycle 1 will also bear a fruit/O2 in the same cycle, as will the initial banana trees if the ship happens to start on D1C1.

Actions
Plant:
* Cost: 2 AP or 1 Garden
* Requires: Empty HydroPot
* Target: Fruit
* Effect: Uses a fruit to create a young plant of the same type.

Water Plant:
* Cost: 1 AP or 1 Garden
* Target: HydroPot with plant
* Effect: Resets the plant's thirst status.
** Only one watering is needed, regardless of whether the plant is thirsty or dried out.

Treat Plant:
* Cost: 2 AP or 1 Garden
* Target: HydroPot with plant
* Effect: Cures a diseased plant.

Hybridize:
* Cost: 2 AP or 1 Garden
* Requires: Fruit in inventory
* Target: HydroPot with plant
* Effect: If the plant is in perfect condition (not thirsty, dried out or sick) and the character is not dirty, the plant is replaced with a new young plant of the fruit's type. If any of these conditions is not met, the hybridizing attempt fails and both the plant and fruit are destroyed in the attempt.

Notes & Tips
* Since they do not produce fruit or O2, Young Plants do not need to be treated for disease until they mature. They also do not need to be watered until Dried Out, so only every other day.

* Diseases can appear at any cycle change throughout the day. Hence, plants should always be checked in Cycle 8, if possible. It's often useful for the gardener to give an update on plant statuses early in Cycle 8 - that all are clear, or that assistance is needed.

* As a Botanist, you should prioritize Garden for actions that cost 2 AP if possible. If you know you're going to plant or graft a fruit later in the day, save them for that. And use them on treating diseases before spending them on mere watering.
** Watering costs 1 AP for everyone, and can be done by everyone. Encourage others to water plants for you during the day, especially people without special skills (like Chun). That way ou will avoid stressful situations in Cycle 8, and save your Garden if there is nothing but watering to do.
*** Also/especially do this if you are a Biologist who gets better research value (or similar bonuses) for his AP than they do.

* When plants die, they leave an empty HydroPot behind. But in a fire, the HydroPots are destroyed as well.
** In the very late game, it is recommended that trusted crew-members hold plants in their inventory on cycle changes. Plants in the inventory cannot burn in a fire. Plants held in inventory at day change will still produce fruit and oxygen.
** Blackmagick has stated in the French forum that other items in the room like Post-Its do not actually help reduce the chance of HydroPots being burnt, because each item is evaluated individually for a chance of burning.

* A dried out young banana tree will mature into a thirsty adult tree.

* A Banana Tree takes 36 cycles to mature, or 3 1/2 days. So bananas should be planted in cycle 1-4 for them to be productive 4 days later.

TOC right

NERON, the artificial intelligence of the Daedalus, assigns three special Titles to certain individuals among the crew. These are:

* Commander: Jin Su
* NERON Administrator: Janice

If a crew member is no longer capable of fulfilling their duty, any Titles they carry transfer to another crew member at the beginning of the next cycle in a predetermined order.

Stephen's Opportunist skill is connected to Titles in that he gains 5 bonus AP for the first time he is assigned a title.

Commander
The Commander navigates the Daedalus using the Command Terminal. The Commander can turn and move the ship to orbit planets or run away from Hunters as well as issue missions to the crew.

Missions
At the cost of 1 AP the current Commander can issue a mission once per day. Missions can only be given to characters with whom you can communicate, either by being in the same room, via Walkie Talkie/iTrackie or having the Brainsync status. The mission description is for flavor and is not binding. The character who accepts the mission receives 3 AP and a notification with a description of the mission in the Tips channel.

As long as the missions are not rejected, a character can save up several missions for usage at once, since they stack and do not expire. If the selected character rejects the assigned mission, they do not receive any AP, yet the Commander still loses the AP spent issuing the mission. However, they are refunded the right to issue a mission on the same day. The fixed limit of one mission per day is tied to the characters and not to the title -- if the previous commander becomes inactive or is killed, then the new commander will be able to issue a new mission.

NERON Administrator
The NERON Administrator carries favor with the Daedalus' computer intelligence NERON. The administrator has the ability to access multiple options and change the settings for how the ship's artificial intelligence behaves through the BIOS Terminal.

The NERON Administrator also has the ability to post messages to the ship from NERON by entering /neron <your message here>. Note that the command needs to be all lower case in order to work correctly.

Accessing BIOS
BIOS Terminal

The title of NERON Administrator carries with it the minor burden of being responsible for NERON's BIOS settings, which has to be done at the start of the round and every once in a while during the progressing game.

Communications Officer
The Communications Officer is responsible for decoding Rebel Base signals, working with the Xyloph Database,updating NERON's software to unlock additional NERON Projects for the ship and contacting alien vessels. They are also capable of broadcasting General Announcements to the entire crew of the Daedalus, as well as granted the ability to communicate on Walkie Talkie channels without having to carry one.

General Announcements
The Communications Officer may, at any time, issue a General Announcement. This may be used to keep crew members aware of important findings and organize help to save the ship from various Mush and environmental threats. Once an announcement is broadcast all crew members will receive a notification with a description of the announcement in the Tips channel.

Title Hierarchy
The following table details the order of succession in which characters are assigned a title. To receive a title, a crew member must not be dead, Berzerker or Inactive.

Carnwennan: Updated report rules and current SDF moderator list. Source: http://mush.twinoid.com/tid/forum#!view/112222|thread/55145995/0

The Sol Defense Federation (also: Sol Defense Force) is the secondary villain force of the game, representing humanity's main governing body which has been taken over by Mush. The Hunters pursuing the Daedalus are sent by the SDF. Derek and Andie are also part of the organization, unwittingly becoming part of an anti-SDF rebel movement as they board the Daedalus.

In meta-game terms, the SDF is also used as a term to refer to the judges and volunteer moderators of Mush, which are responsible for enforcing the rules and handing out sanctions and quarantines to those who break them. The article will be treating information pertaining to this meta-game entity.

General Operation complaints
Where do my complaints go?
Complaints are sent to the SDF Complaint system, and are handled by judges, a group of players and moderators.

How are complaints handled?
The complaints are generally treated once the game is over. Judges have access to the logs in the history and can assess the situation. It is necessary that three judges vote to accept the punishment or pardon said complaint.

What happens in case of a guilty verdict?
A notification will be sent by the SDF briefly explaining why you were punished. Depending on the severity of your actions, you will gain so-called "SDF score" points. <br>
When you have accumulated too many SDF points, you will be quarantined.<br>
Certain penalties may be subject to immediate quarantine.

Quarantined?
If you gain a certain amount of points from (past) reports, you will be quarantined immediately even if you are in a new ship.
Additionally, you can not join a new casting group during the quarantine period.

Explanation of your penalty
If you do not understand your punishment or believe that you are being punished unfairly, you can appeal to a moderator via http://twinoid.com/tid/groupDiscuss and messaging "EN Mush Mods". The sooner you appeal/ask for the reasons of the verdict, the better we can review the evidence at hand.<br>
Remember that the moderator has access to all the logs of the game so don't bother trying to justify or find excuses in your case by arranging the truth to benefit yourself.<br>
If you complain in bad faith, or with ulterior nefarious intentions your complaint will have less weight.

How to submit a report
Simply report a message
Want to report Chun throwing two grenades in a dorm? Jin Su human who kills Chun and Raluca (human)? Gioele who insults everyone?
Select the message to report, click on the "Report" button. A pop-up window will open, choose the person to report it by clicking on it, fill out the reason for the report then click "send."<br>
At the end of the game you can still report said person when you see the chat at your death.

How to choose which message to report
To help judges in their work, report the message that directly applies to the issue. You also want to make sure that you fill out the report reason box with an accurate and complete description of the issue.<br>
Saying "it is anti-game" is not explicit, expand with a detailed reason at the minimum.
A message with death as a reason "killed Chun" tells us that it was a griefing action.<br>
When the first post of a discussion wall is reported, we can see the comments made there easier, so it's nice to report the first message of the thread along with your comment and add details.

Inaccurate reporting
Not reporting the right message and/or giving a reason unrelated to the action may cause pardoning because the complaint is apparently unfounded. We do our best to analyze all situations, however, this work can not be done without your help. If you really want someone that is griefing or harassing players to be sanctioned appropriately, then make sure to report the correct text.

What is valid to report?
You can report players who do not respect the rules of Mush. <br>
Below is a non-exhaustive list of things you can report other players for:<br>

* Casting recruitment is allowed once per game, any other advertisement is forbidden
* Do not play against your team.
* If you’re mush, do not intentionally expose yourself or members of the mush team.
* Do not commit suicide, surrender or otherwise give up on the ship.
* Be civil and don’t flood the chat.
* Neutral play is enforced prior to mush selection. Do not hold items or work on anti-mush research. (Note: As of July 2016, this once again includes MycoScan. It is forbidden to start this research before mush selection, regardless of starting spore status.)
* Mush tests may not be forced upon other players.
* The only acceptable language on this server is English. Your posts must be understandable.
* A harmful return to Sol (without crew consensus or while the ship is still early in its voyage, for instance) is not permitted. This includes pre-selection returns that amount to “giving up” on the voyage.

* Encouraging others to break these rules is also reportable.

Notes
Although Mush is a social game, we're not here to solve your personal conflicts in the ship with other players. If your complaint is a "but, uh, do something, s/he is mean to me", but said player has done nothing wrong in the game to you or his/her team please do not use the report button.

Screenshots can be used to describe a problem or ask questions about the game interface in the forum. Before you send a screenshot, be sure to crop or hide personal information, other windows or tabs open, etc. This includes your Mush character, room you are in, the chat window etc, anything that could give away which ship you are on.

In multi-player games like Mush some might pressure you to show them a screenshot of your game page to "prove" your innocence or situation. Using screenshots in this way is not prohibited by the rules, but the roleplay element is immediately lost when using screenshots so it is considered not within the spirit of the game and is discouraged.

Inactivity (new players, players not communicating or playing) will not be sanctioned, do not report them. We do not want to sanction new players who might not be engaged. Learning to work around these players is part of our game.

There will be times when ships fill slowly so we will expect that before ships fill and mush are chosen there may be Neutral Play.

What it worth mentioning?
Given the high number of complaints, we ask you all to think before using the report button. The complaint system should not be used as a means of pressure on another player. This type of attitude will be sanctioned appropriately.

What will happen if my report is deemed unnecessary?
If you are abusing the report system in order to force your way of play upon your crewmates or if you abuse the report system with illegitimate complaints, your complaint can be turned against you. So be sure to write the content of your complaint and detailed reason. Although it may make sense for you, it does not necessarily make sense for the judges.
